Toilets & Faucets
Is your water heater not heating up your water consistently? There are several things to consider if you need water heater repair.
First, how old is your water heater? If it is 8-12 years old or older, you may want to consider replacing it with a more energy efficient heater. The expense to upgrade could be offset in a matter of time with your energy efficient savings.
The expected life of a water heater is 8 to 12 years old. There are a lot of factors that can determine if it will actually last that long. If you are experiencing a leak around the bottom of the tank or if it is not consistently heating your water, it is likely time for a replacement.
At Orangeburg Plumbers we offer water heater repair as well as replacement. An option many of our customers consider when needing to repair or replace is a tankless water heater.
Call us today for a free estimate on a tankless water heater or a Hot Water Heater repair to your existing water heater.
We service electric water heaters as well as gas water heaters. Many water heaters today are built to need very little maintenance or even none at all. However, here are a few maintenance tips to prolong the life of your heater.
Drain the hot water heater twice a year
Draining it will allow any sediments to be discarded. These sediments can cause corrosion and decrease efficiency.
Test the pressure relief valve
You can test the pressure relief valve by lifting the valves handle and letting it snap back into place. When releases the valve, it should release a burst of water into the overflow drainpipe. If it does not do this, it is time for a new pressure relief valve.
Lower the temperature setting to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
Reducing the temperature of the hot water heater also reduces the damage that can be caused to the tank because of overheating.
If you are in need of a new hot water heater, let Orangeburg Plumbers help you choose the best option for your home. Things to consider are:
- Gallon capacity – how many gallons do you need? The 40-gallon and 50-gallon water heaters are most common.
- Energy Efficiency – We can help you choose an energy efficient hot water heater to help you with gas or electric bills.
- Size and Dimensions – Every house is unique in its space requirements. We can help you decide which unit you need for the space you have available.
- Recovery Rate – This is the number of gallons per hour that your hot water heater will heat in an hour. We can help you decide based on how many people are in your home.
